Can I run an ad on the retail floor while music plays in other zones?
The Timer works on a single-program-for-all-zones principle: at any given moment one program is playing, and the zones simply decide where it's routed. So ads and background music alternate over time — for example, a spot to the sales floor at 12:00, then music straight after. If you need different audio in different areas at the same moment, that's a job for a matrix system.
Does the VPA-Timer need an amplifier?
Yes, always. The Timer is a controller-player with line-level zone outputs — there's no amplifier inside. Power is sized to the line load in each zone; you can work it out in our online calculator.
How quickly can I change an advertising spot?
Record it right on site: the unit has a built-in recorder that captures from a microphone or a line input. The recording is saved alongside the program tracks and dropped straight into the schedule. No studio and no outside contractor — the whole job takes minutes.
Can I run a different schedule on weekdays and weekends?
Yes. The day of the week is set within each entry, and there are eight programs in total — four stored internally and four on a USB stick. You can switch between them wholesale: a regular timetable and a separate one for a sale period, say.
Can I configure several sites at once?
Yes. The timetable is built in an editor on a computer, exported as a file and imported into the unit from a USB stick. Across a chain of locations this replaces sending a commissioning engineer to each site. One limit to keep in mind: the unit has no network or cloud control — the file has to be carried in on physical media.
Will the amplifiers run around the clock?
They don't have to. The power-control output is synchronized with the schedule: outside the defined time slots the amplifiers are powered down. The limit is 850 W of switchable load; anything above that is switched through an external contactor.
